My Questions is all bout IDOC & ALE with SAP XI

Hi guys,

could anyone explain to me this question?

IDocs and ALV are the ideal bridge between R/3 and Legacy systems and so what is the pure purpose of developing the SAP XI Server? is there any future thought of Eliminating ALE/EDI work flow concept?

Hi Romano,

IDocs are the form of data that are transferred between systems, whereas SAP XI is the transportation system used to pass this data.

Coming to ALE configuration work...right now, these configurations are capable of creating a dialogue only between a pair of systems, but SAP XI is capable of involving many systems at the same time!

This not only makes an architect's job easier but also makes the integration logic more flexible and re-usable!

ALV is not the same as ALE..Its reporting related.ALE is the interfacing layer to SAP.SAP XI is more a middleware to decouple integrating systems from each other

Hi,

ALE is a method of Interfacing with the SAP/external systems. IDoc is the Standard structure to transfer this data.

ALV is used for showing the end user reports in a readable format. The same can be done with normal reports. But ALV gives you additional finctionality like filtering, downloading, clubbing data.

Hi,

XI is an centralized ,integration platform/broker.

ALE is point-to-point. and gnerally used in SAP to SAP integration. ALE doesnot support open standards like Webservices etc. XI is having BPM(Business Process Management) as an added functionality

Hope this helps,
