1) Make a full backup of your XI 3.1 system (both database and file repository)

2) Change the hostname

3) Create a new SIA with all defaults servers using the CCM. Make sure that you instruct the CMS to use the same database connection as before. I ould advise you to change the default CMS and SIA ports.

4) Run the "Update objects" command in the CCM on the new SIA

5) Stop the old SIA and change the ports for the new SIA and the CMS to the default values (if required)

6) Remove the old SIA in the CCM

7) Go into to the CMC and try to delete any remaining servers from the old SIA.

Please note that after completing the above workflow you have to reconfigure some of the servers' settings again in the CMC

Thanks for detail instructions Stratos.

Actually we changed our host name due to underscore (_) in the host name. (Issues with internet explorer).

Just changed underscore (_) to - Ex : host_name -- > host-name.

But in CCM, when I try to create new SIA with "-" it is not taking. Valid characters are only Letters and underscores.

If I leave this as is do you see any issues ? As I don't see any issues so far after host name change.

Are you able to invoke reports?

Yes, no issues at all (reports are working fine)

I was surprised to see everything working after host name change and without changing anything on XI 3.1 side.

Even AD Auth working fine too.

Did you do the installation using an IP address?

Not IP Addess, Host Name.

Even SIA also has the old hostname with underscore (_).

Not sue how reports are working fine.

XI 3.x was modified from XIR2 to allow hostname and domain changes without reconfiguring everything. You may need to change a CMS name in the web.xml/web.config Although it can be allowed manually
