Upgrade to PI 7.11 first and then EHp4 on ECC 6.0???

Hi, I wanted to ask you a question regarding the SAP Landscape for SAP PI 7.0 and associated SAP (ECC and BI).

There is documentation of SAP (SAP benefits of PI 7.11) that recommend to HAVE within the SAP landscape the SAP PI at the highest level compared to the rest of the landscape.

Considering a SAP ECC 6.0 and PI 7.0, we are thinking of installing the EHp4 in ECC and upgrade SAP 7.0 to SAP PI PI7.11. Our focus should first do the upgrade of SAP PI and then install the EHp4 (based on the documentation).??

My query is whether SAP is indicating a normal recommendation, a strong recommendation or a pre-requisite to have PI in the highest level.

Also, if you have a formal document or a SAP Note about this would be great.

I do not think anything is mandatory regarding the order. You can go ahead with PI 7.1 first and then EHP4 on ECC. But the otherway should also not be a problem.
