Created sapdata file in local filesystem

Hi guys - I had one of those days. I had 4 volumes for sapdata 1-4. I ran out of space and without thinking I created a directory as sapdata5 and added a huge datafile to it. (several datafiles).

I had the unix administrator create the file systems. Can I simply delete the datafiles and recreate them in new filesystem or should I resize and move them? Can you please tell me how?

Appriciate your input.

Regards

K

Hi,

Instead of deleting and recreating, you should MOVE it to different location...

You can use BRTOOLS to do this..

Run BRTOOLS.

2 - Space management

6 - Move data file

(Enter the details of your datafile which need to move to different location and continue..)

Refer the below note for more details:

[Note 868750 - How to relocate/rename a datafile|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/868750]

please note that moving is the solution you must use.

BUT... you will need to shutdown SAP in order to complete this task. So, plan this accordingly.
