Hi,
Greetings !
We are planning to create a test environment for upgrade.
Production Server Environment
-
Windows 2003 SP1 (x86 32 bit)
SQL Server 2000 SP4
R/3 4.6C (Basis above SP53)
SID -> AB1
>>Domain Installation
Test Environment
-
Windows Server 2003 SP2 (x86 32 bit)
SQL Server 2000 SP4
R/3 4.6C
SID -> BB1
>>Local Installation.
The point is there is a SID change, and we are planning to copy the system using Detach / Attach.
Using Note 151603.
I have a doubt regarding
Copying a SAP system which is made of of Domain Installation to a Local installation is possible ??
If possible, is there any additional procedures we need to follow etc.. ?
Thanks & Best Regards

If you install the system (the central instance) freshly and then just copy the database it works flawlessly. What's not working is "cloning" the operating system and the central instance.

Hi,
We did a fresh install of Central Instance and copied the Database as per Markus suggestion. It worked out well.
Thanks a lot everyone.

Hi,
There is no Problem to restore Domain installed SAP backup to local installed SAP instance.
Go with Restore procedure.

Hi,
There is no Problem to restore Domain installed SAP backup to local installed SAP instance.
It will not be a problem. But the Domain Installation is recommended.
In both the cases , the OS users <sid>adm and SAPService<SID> should be a member of Local NT Group "Administrators".
You can refer SAP Note 193816 - Restore with SQL Server to proceed with Restore procedure.
