German language support for SRM

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement of enabling German language support for SRM.

Environment -

SRM 5.0

R/3 4.6c

Unicode enabled

Catalog enabled

Classic scenario

There are a couple of BADI's implemented along with custom error messages. As of now we are not getting the logon language as German in the dropdown list in the ITS login page. The only language visible in the dropdown is English

Can you provide step by step pointers / document / configuration details on activities on how the German language can be implemented? Specific steps that need to be followed, aspects to be considered, translations to be maintained in which all tables etc.

Hi,

Please go to SNLS transaction and select menu Language -> Display...

Is there any German language in your system?

For language maintenence go to transaction SMLT.

Your basis consultant knows this.

Hi Masa,

I checked in SNLS -

DE is installed.

However, on the ITS page i dont get it as an option in the language dropdown list.

it may not be a big problem. WHole SAP packages are mostly written by GERMAN only. I have see many SAP codes in GERMAN. They develop a whole package for us. it may not a big issue. Consult your basis guy and he will make it available .

Can you logon to SRM server in German via SAPGUI ?

If you can logon, please make sure you have not excluded the logon language in ITS service parameter.

Transaction: SICF

Service: BBPGLOBAL and BBPSTART

GUI Configuration

If there is ~language parameter, you should delete the entry or add DE value.

Hi Masa,

I am able to logon o SRM server in German.

I checked SICF -

BBPSTART : Language = English when i display the service

BBPGLOBAL : there is no specific setting for language

How do I enable German language? Do I need to create a new service?

If BBPSTART has "_{language" ITS service parameter, please delete the "}language".

I'm not 100% sure on this but i think the required 'german' language hasn't been installed (SAP Basis) if it's not comming up on the logon page.
In addition the following things should atleast be taken into account:
- Define external webservices (translations)
- Masterdata translations (f.e. productgroups/UOM/currency etc.)
- Smartforms and/or custom smartforms need to be set up for your language.
In addition there will probably be some of the 'usual note translation fixes' that need to be implemented.
This won't be a 100% answer but i'm hoping it's usefull and with the help of other people we can get a finger on all required steps.
