Hi,
I am implementing ChaRM in different countries.
We have 1 Global Development System and 1 system from which Charm is connected through RFC to the Global system.
The transport routes and clients stay the same after the implementation.
Is it possible to implement ChaRM which is connected to the Global system for 1 country while the other countries still use the old release management system?
Is it possible to still do the leftover manual transports while using ChaRM?
Thank you for the answer.
P.
Thank you for the great help.

Hello,
Yes, it is possible.
It depends on how you set the 'CTS status switch', the users will be able to change transports in the satellite systems or not. The default for ChaRM is to set the CTS status switch so that users cannot change transports manually.
I am not sure where to look for more detailed documentation about CTS status switches aside from general ChaRM documentation.

Hi Pjotter,
If i understood you well; all developments are done in a commun development system (that s what you called global) and then transported on different tracks to differents prod systems (as many as the number of countries)
If thats the case; you'll have to be careful if you don t wanna manage tranporting TR excusively from Charm but also with STMS because:
When you create a Solman Project on Solution Manager it automatically creates a CTS Project per Development system/client declared in lanscape of project. This CTS Project is created in distant Dev Syst
In your case i guess its gonna be one CTS Project (cause you have one global Dev Syst and supposing you re using only one client for TR Creation: Cust & Wb) and this CTS project has Switches that allows or blocks transport actions
You have two options to make transport actions (like import) available directly on STMS (not using ChaRM)
- In Solution Manager: open import switches on transaction /n/tmwflow/proj tab 'CTS STatus Switches' for concerned Solman project on systems of countries not under ChaRM Solution Yet
- In Dev Distant System : open import switches on transaction SE03 for concerned CTS project on systems of countries not under ChaRM Solution Yet
Let me if everything is OK
Hope it helps

Hi,
It is upto you how to design the landscape and in which you want changes to proceed as per your system architect design etc.
this is more company specific and not technical but rather organizational related stuff,
It is upto your design which changes will go and which will not go and thus you have to design landscape as per that requirement.

Hi, I thought about it.
In our system we have a Global ECC system and for every country an own ECC system.
We would like to implement first Charm on 1 country but all developments are made in the global system and so tranported to the local system.
Does this not give conflicts in the manual transports with the transports from ChaRM?
Thanks for the answer.

Hi
yes it is possible
say in country one i have ECC landscape and country 2 i have PI BI landscape
i want to activate CHARMS oly for Country 1 so
Take ECC landscape create a log component for it in SMSY
create a project with above log component only and activate CHARMS
note if you dont include the PI BI or other country landscape in this project it wont affect them and you can use the normal way of moving requests
Morever it is possible to include for rest of the country and landscape in the same project also later......
OR
Second option is to activate taking all system in ur project irrrelevant of country;
and Use Status Switches option
Hope prob is completely solved.
