We intend to upgrade to EP 7 EhP1 SPS 0
Do we need to patch ECC 6 ? We want to avoid patching ECC6 if that is possible.
We could not find any info in PAM and the we are going through the upgrade documentation. But it would help if someone could direct us to the right SAP note or link.
Thanks in advance
Prasad
Hi,
We are also planning for upgrading EP and BI system from 7.0 to 7.1
What are guides you are followed for upgrades, can you please suggest us.
I searched and saw guides only for 7.0 . I didnt get guides foe 7.1

You don't need to upgrade the backend system... but its always a good idea to keep all systems up to date.

Hi Juan
I think if the customer uses XSS, they need to checkout the dependancy with ECC as well.
I got some notes from Cons' post:
Note 1243433 - ESS/MSS Component dependencies for ERP6.0 - NW04s
Note 908569 - Information about ERP 2005 JAVA Support Packages
Note 1303362 - ESS and MSS and Enhancement Packages 1,2,3
But these notes speak of upgrading XSS (and hence EP) if ECC needs to be patched. Whereas what we need is the other way around. The notes do not have much info on upgrading to EP7.01
Any other info would be helpful.
Thanks
Prasad
Hi Prasad,
Yes, it is very important regarding the patch level for XSS system.
If you are using XSS system and you are upgrading the XSS Base and business package . Then it is Manditory to Update the backend system patche which should be Equivalent to EP XSS patchs.
EP XSS patches should ve equvilant to backend i.e ECC SAP_HR and EA_HR patches.
Thanks
Anil
