SMSY after hardware replacement - what to do?

Former Member

After moving my SAP systems to new hardware...

I run "saposcol -b | sldreg ..." so SLD shows new hardware (new cpu type, new memory size, new number of cpus, etc).

I run SMSY_SETUP (landscape fetch) from SLD. This job updates what it likes!!! Certainly not everything.

CPU type hasn't been touched anywhere. Number of CPUs updated for some servers. Memory size and CPU frequency updated everywhere.

I turn on write mode ... but i can't change most of the above ... but I can change hardware vendor and model.

Are the valuation tables used any more? SAP doesn't maintain them. Is there any source? Do I just insert my hardware?

How do I handle cpu type which landscape fetch has under its control.

Hello Ken,

A lot of times what I have noticed is that a second entry for this system has been generated by the RFC in SMSY. For example, I have a system ABC, I upgrade the CPU and add more memory to this; however, some information, such as Installation number or other information there has been changed ever since I set this system up. Once this system is upgraded, the RFC sees this new system; however, does not know if this system is actually the same system in SMSY or not since some data is either missing, changed or wrong. In this case, it would create a new system in SMSY and normally would call it SID0001, so in my case would be ABC0001.

Please check this first.

Thanks,

Mark
