Do temporary switch hardware need a license

Hi,

My SAP system is on a SAN

(OS AIX + application)

I need to test a switch to another hardware for few days so:

- the hostname is the same (Boot on SAN)

- SAP SID is of course the same

- only change is S/N of hardware

Is SAP started after the switch or I need a temporary license to start it ?

Is Solution Manager involved in it ?

Hi,

Yes, you need the license with other hardware key.

Also, if you are migrating it from AIX to other OS then this is os-db migration for which you need migration key as well.

the switch is only for few hours (max 2 days)

after we go back to the original hardware

Is it possible to have a temporary license to start SAP ?
