PRD_OFFLINE_BRBACKUP and PRD_SMB_OFFLINE

both are offline backups. so what are the adv/disadv of getting 2 different kind of offline backups.

PRD_OFFLINE_BRBACKUP

Getting "ARCHIVELOGS + DATABASE"

Command using: -t offline -d util_file -c

PRD_SMB_OFFLINE

Getting "DATABASE"

Command using: -t offline_split -d util_file -c

Brbackup offline will take the database to the down state and will take the backup

In the case of Split Mirror Backup, mirrored disks will be split by the brbackup for taking the backups. this is usually configured for large systems for taking the offline backup.

Instead of taking backup of production server ON THE production server, brbackup is started on the configured backup server.

You can find more detailed document of the split mirror disk backup on the link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8044c539-0d01-0010-6e82-bcf085728....
