wants to activate batch management for a material which already had a Stock

hi,

i want to activate batch management for a material which already has a stock and open Purchasing documents.

is there any way by which we can do it without removing the same.

please help.

Hi,

In the standard SAP System it is not possible to activate Batch management when you have stocka nd open PO's.

U need to make the stock zero and close all the open PO's to activate.

Hi,

I do not think it is possible to activate batch management if your stock is available in system.even any sales document or purchaase document exist then also system will not allowe you activate batch management.

please check with SAP, they will provide you with the program, with that program you can activate the batch management for materials even they have open PO, orders, SO stock etc.

we have activated the same way at my client.

program name is RVBCONVMAT2BM

but i am doubtfull it will be delivered with standard SAP, you need to request you from SAP as they charge for this.

this program convert the material to batch and all relevant dependant documents will be updated with batch no.

Hi,

You can change (activate / deactivate) batch management requirement for material masters, it is standard SAP.

1) In MM02 set it for your material and try to save it --> (it's very probably) system will give error message --> click on "Display errors" button --> you will get information what hinders you from the change.

If you eliminate those problems, you will be able to carry out the change.

3) Please also read OSS note 533276 about program "RVBCONVMAT2BM".

Hi,

we are also facing same issue,

we made zero stock and no open po and tried to activate batch mgt in the matl,it throws err msg"batch management can not be changed display error" if we proceed display error it throws an  err msg that matl is locked
