Dear All,
Can we assign functional areas directly to GL masters?
If yes, please tell me the assignment procedure?
I know we can assign directly to Cost centers and Internal orders.

Dear,
It is a two step process..
1. Create functional areas using transaction OKBD
2. Use transaction SM30 and enter view V_001_COS then click on maintain. Here set COS status Active or In Preparation for your company code.
Now you can enter functional areas into GL master...

Hi Swapna,
You can directly assign Funcational Area to GL master in FS00 for all the GL's.
For that first you should to do the setting of shown of Functional area in GL master thrugh the Field status settings in Account Groups OBD4 t.code.
In OBD4 t.code, you have several account groups for your GL's, in that account groups you select Field status varients and do the settings for Required or Optional settings of Functional Area.
Then the Functional Area Field will appear in FS00 t.code at the Types/Description tab...
Here after you can directly assign the Functional Area for your GL's...
If you want to assign Functional Area for your existing GL's (previously created GL's), you can assign Fun.Area in MASS transaction.
This will clear your doubt... If not please revert me back....
Thanks and Regards,
Mohan.
