I'm posting this as a new thread as this is a different question.
I have a requirement that I need to provide authorization to different groups of people. Can I use any standard DIR authorizations to do this per department? Please advice.
Thanks
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
These authorization you can maintain in authorization groups field and create the roles accordingly. In authorization group you can maintain the different departments and use as group of people. This depends on your requirement. The object is C_DRAW_BGR-BEGRU
Hope this will resolve the query.

Hi there
Read here to know about authorization objects for Document [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/c1/1c31a243c711d1893e0000e8323c4f/frameset.htm]
Use T-code PFCG to maintain roles for users.

Hi Kevin,
to get the checked authorization objects which are used during your actions I would recommend you to make an authorization check in transaction ST01 first. For further information please see http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/AuthorizationTrace-+ST01.
In case there is no suitable authorization object available to control the behavior as wanted you would have to implement your own checks with BADI DOCUMENT_AUTH01.
Best regards,
Christoph
