Hello CP2009, Have you defined printer ZTEST at OS level(host) ?

The printer created @ SAP level has to be mapped at your host where physical printer is there.

Hope it helps you in solving the problem. Let me know the outcome.

Dear Amber,

Thanks for your input.

No, effectively, as I have written, I did create my printer on OS level (Linux).

Do you know the linux command to create the Host Printer Name ?

lpadmin ?

lpr ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

Hello CP2009, Well you will find etc/hosts file at OS level actually you can edit that file - where in you need to assign ZTEST an ip address. Just have a look at the etc hosts file and you will get to know hte ip addresses assigned to different printers similar way an ip address should be mapped to ZTEST.

Hope it clarifies you doubt.

Dear Amber,

Thanks for your input.

1. In /etc/hosts file, I have added the following entry :

192.168.104.10 ztest

2. In SPAD, I have added the following entry :

Host Printer : ztest

Host Spool Access Method : "L : Print Locally Using LP/LPR".

I still get the same error :

=========================================================================

The host spool is reporting errors

Message from host spool:

lpr: error - unable to print file: client-error-not-found

End of message

Command used: cd /usr/sap/D1E/DVEBMGS02/data; /usr/bin/lpr -Pztest -J003xTApN.D1E

Errors occurred processing this print request

Error during print request output. l_rc = 1

There may be no printout

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hello CP2009 , Are your other printers in this SAP system working fine ? ( I just want to confirm that your Host spooler is working fine and this problem is printer specific)

Dear all,

I found the solution by reading OSS Notes :

129997 Hostname and IP address lookup

124562 Hostname resolution problems (DNS timeouts)

500235 shows how to run NIPING

Best regards
