Ashley,

As to WHY basis jobs are scheduled from 000 client is - 000 client is maintenance client and all maintenance activites are performed from 000(and house keeping jobs comes under regular maintenance activites)

AND any client apart from 000, 001 and 066 is considered as Business critical client.

Even if you have SAP ALL access in you 100 It is not advised to do system maintenance through that client.(and you might not be having SAP ALL access).

Still if you feel you have queries revert back.

Ashley,

Amber had already answered your query in a lucid manner.

As discussed by Amber, 000 and 001 are standard clients . These clients have two special users pertaining standard names and standard passwords. One among them is DDIC.

Business critical jobs are scheduled in customizing client whereas SAP Standard jobs or clean up jobs are scheduled with DDIC user. The reason is :

1) The Business critical jobs run as per the business requirement and clean up jobs should always run on your SAP system.

2) If you schedule clean up jobs with any customizing user and not standard user like DDIC , there are chances for customizing user to get locked at some point of time . This may prove fatal to your SAP system performance. Hence its always advisable to use DDIC user with 000 client and standar password to schedule your standard or clean up jobs. Even if your dev or customizing user is locked, your standard jobs are no way affected

I think this should answer your query

Hello all,

We generally schedule some housekeeping jobs(mainly basis) in 000 and there is no very specific reason.

Generally jobs running in 000 cleans some client independent data. And if you remember most of these jobs are standard SAP delivered jobs. After installing your SAP system you have only 000 and not prod client with you..and you trigger housekeeping jobs then itself genrally before creating prod client. Also it is sufficient to have one instance of job running for your SAP system..so you dont run them prod client though if you with you can run in prod as well. Also there is no need to run it with DDIC only..you can have any user ID with sufficient auth. however few transport jobs need DDIC.

SAP recommends to run housekeeping jobs in your system and generally you trigger it in 000 during your post installation activity.

thanks

HI Ashley Scott ,

It is recommended to schedule housekeeping jobs in 000 and also some of them in prod client. All customer specific jobs should run in prod client depending on requirement. Also you should use a BATCH user as a STEP user for running jobs in prod client with sufficient auth. DDIC should not be used for running jobs however thy are used by default in few transport related RDD* jobs.

thanks
