requirement strategy

how is the Requirement strategy ( in the demand tab of product master) determined in APO from R/3 when there is no strategy settings maintained in R/3.

i.e : how does system determine the Req. strategy based on the Req. class / req. type / item category etc from R/3.

In case in ECC for sales order we can set that requirement type, class is determined from item category first and then from material master strategy or vice versa also.

Hi,

System will determine the reqmts strategy from R3 Material master. If no strategy is maintained here, then the system will check for the MRP Group maintained in the Material Master. To this MRP Group , strategy group will be assigned. From herte system will pickup.

thanks for the reply. what i was looking at was a detailed level.

MRP group may not be a mandatory entry in master data. In such cases, what is the relation between the Req. class / Req. type to the Req. strategy in APO.
