Equipment External Number Range

As per the Requirement I have assigned A00000000000 - ZZZZZZZZZZZZ to an equipment category through OIEN.

but I am getting the error message in the IE01 screen whenever I try to create an equiment with some external number for this category.

Equipment category does not allow alphanumeric equipment number

Can some one help whether anyother settings are needed.

(It is to be noted that system gives correct error message if I try to create equipment without giving external number - No internal number range defined for equipment category)

What is the exact external number you are trying to assign.

have you ticked external number range tick in OIEN.

If yes then please provide the error message number.

There is a configuration setting in Equipment category which wont allow alpha-numeric equipment number.

Just check over there and reply. one tick mark need to be checked.

Exactly that is what my question is. I am not able to find that Configuration point, exists if any.

check whether you have ticked "No Alphanumeric Equipment Numbers" or not.

go to Maintain Equiment Category >>>> select your category and check whether you have ticked "No Alphanumeric Equipment Numbers" or not.

In fact "No Alphanumeric Equipment Numbers" field is Coded as A.

I was not able to make out until the other friend replied in the EAM thread.
