Hi,
We are backing up offline redo log files into tape archive, by using brarchive. We would like use same data tape with full capacity, but the at the end of the archiving process, tape rewinds and ejects it. Consequently, we need to insert next data tape and cannot use it with full capacity. The question is; is there any way to use same data tape without "-f" option on brarchive?
Thank you

Hi,
I'm not 100% sure of what do you want to do here?
Do you want to "reuse" a tape as many times as you want adding the information at the end of the tape util it is full.
I'm afraid that is only possible with the ["-f" option|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/0d/d30cc54a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm]

Hi,
Using Third party Backup utility software it can be possible to append all archive log files of a whole day into single Tape Cartridge. You can provide -cds option with brarchive command into Oracle Agent based Archive Backup Job specification.
But, for Productive System, please make different (7 or 14) sets based on your PRD DB Backup cycle.
Alternative option will be to perform Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape Backup operations to fully utilize Tape capacity.
