Dear Andg and Himadama,

The most recent SAP GRC Access Control 5.3 Installation Guide, published September, 2009, references the break-down of JCo connector information in Section 5. Post-Installation Configuration:

5.1.1 Creating JCo Connections to Backend Systems:

http://www.service.sap.com/

http://service.sap.com/swdc

http://help.sap.com

http://service.sap.com/bestpractices

http://www.sap.com/bestpractices

Perhaps this excerpt may clarify the utilization options for SAP JCo connections in GRC Access Control 5.3 as of SP09.

Thank you,

Shiela

yes there is a limit.

you can have max. 3 SAP HR backend systems.

Max. 3 non-HR SAp backend system.

Max 15 legacy systems provided RTA is available.

Hi,

As Partha mentioned, that is the limit for ERP system that you are trying to connect using Adaptive RFC in RAR.

There is no limit on number of ERP systems to connect to Access Control through SAP JCo as long as you Access Control box is sized accordingly.

For any sizing questions follow the link below to AC 5.3 Sizing Guide.

https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_SHORTKEY=002007974700000716...

In addition, you need to make sure the performance is not an issue. Following is the link to Performance Optimization guide for AC 5.3

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90aa3190-8386-2b10-c4ba-ced67322e...

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

I would like to add that technical limitation and/or performance are not the only criteria involved.

You also need to think about the governance and Maintenance aspects of the system, so you need to make sure it can handle the necessary people working on the system in regards to how many changes people make, and what kind of effects on the connected systems they have (think of rule changes, background jobs etc.)

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

I was wondering if it would be possible to connect over a hundred systems ( both SAP and non-SAP ) to the Acess Control system.

Is there a SAP document or a book available that I can use as a guide for a very huge implementation ?

Hi Frank, Could you explain more on the the governance and Maintenance aspects of the system that I would need to think of ?

Would there be a huge impact on the Access Control system depending on the number of users?

Thanks again.

Please check the following thread:

SAP GRC Access Control 5.3 gives you the option of setting up SAP JCO connections instead of

Adaptive Remote Function Call (RFC) connections. We recommend that you use Adaptive RFCs for

your first 21 connectors because they are more efficient than SAP JCO connectors. If you need more

than 21 connectors, use SAP JCO for the additional connections. We also recommend that you use the

21 Adaptive RFCs for your highest volume or production environments.

This information is available in both GRC 5.3 installation guide (section "Post-Installation Configuration") and configuration guide(Section "Risk Analysis and Remediation-->Defining Connectors for Risk Analysis and Remediation").

3 HR and 3 non-HR systems?- Where is it mentioned? Please provide any reference document.

Thanks

Himadama
