Patch update process is running very long time

Former Member

Dear All,

I am applying BASIS 700 patch KB70014.SAR in my Netweaver 2004s system running on oracle DB 10.2.0.2.0 and windows 2003 32 bit server. Kernel patch level was 133. But the process was taking very long time (> 40000 s) and still running. The BTC work process status was as shown below.

11 BTC 4080 Stop RFC Yes 0:00:57 40100 SAPLSTPA 000 KALYAN

But when i applied the patch KB70013.SAR it was completed < 2000 s.

The system was not allowing to login into SAP and getting the runtime error "Syntax error in program SAPLSFES".

can anyone please let me know that whether this process was regular or anything gone wrong in the system?

The BTC work process trace file and SLOG were as shown below.

Hi Amber,

As you mentioned i waited for long time (> 70000 s) the patch was completed successfully. FYI i already running with latest SAINT and Kernel patches.

Thank you very much for your information.

Regards,

Kalyan.

Hi Kalyan,

As suggested by Amber let the process go on and check what he asked to.

In addition please let us know how many background processes are configured in your system. Might be the case that there are not enough number of background wps in your system.

Hi,

Also, check if there is sufficient space in database and there should be sufficient space for log files.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Kalyan, Let the aptch update go on for some more time as from logs i can see there are no errors occured till now.

However, I would like to know that before starting patching have you applied latest spam/saint version and applied latest kernel ?

Hope it helps.
