Hi,
When performing certain SAP maintenance activities, users need to be off the systems for the maintenance to complete successfully. Locking users does not remove users from the system, only prevents more users from logging on. If SAP system is restarted, clearly this will get the users logged off. The problem with this is that if the SAP system has 20+TB, it takes a while for shut down and restart of SAP. What methods are you using to remove users from the system?
Thank you,
Mike
Do you use logon group(SMLG) with multiple application servers? I mean for such a huge system, at least a huge database, dialog instances should be utilized. You could exclude your CI from logon list, only open dialog instances for user logon; then shutting down all DIs can prevent users from logging back in during your maintenance.

We have numerous DIs in place. We also do not have CI in any log on group. If we shut down DIs then the people doing the maintenance will be logged into CI unless we bring the DIs back. The usage of CI during maintenance is not desired as sometimes we need the workprocesses in the DIs to complete the maintenance work.
