GUI crashing means that the window completely disappears or do you get a short dump in SAP (in the latter case you should post some details about the short dump)?

Also, if you're not on the latest patchlevel of the SAPgui (16 as of now), you might want to try applying the latest patch (you can get it [here|http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=LIST&EVENT=LIST&ENR=01200615320200007657&SWTYPSC=SPP&PECCLSC=OS&INCL_PECCLSC1=OS&PECGRSC1=WIN32&V=MAINT&TA=ACTUAL]).

I'd try to apply the latest patches and see if that helps. If not, I'd deinstall SAPgui and reinstall it. I searched OSS for any related notes, but couldn't find anything (must admit though, that I didn't spend too much time, so you probably should try that as well).

If that doesn't help and your problem is reproducible you could try logging a message with SAP. Here's some relevant OSS notes for getting/providing trace information:

OSS note [411777|https://service.sap.com/support/notes/411777]: Saplogon: supply information to help analysing problems

OSS note [532153|https://service.sap.com/support/notes/532153]: FAQ GUI specific problems and traces

OSS note [425507|https://service.sap.com/support/notes/425507]: Sapshorcut: create trace files

OSS note [520688|https://service.sap.com/support/notes/520688]: Exception: Exception trace

Not sure if you could yourself gain any information out of trace files. Especially also considering that the GUI crashes, so probably there won't be any information about it. Not sure if Windows 7 still has DrWatson, but that might also provide some information.

Hello Harald,

I tried this notes to create log files and also got the meassage the all is logged but none of them created a Log-File?!?

Or i'm just to stupid to find them ......

More over I still can't download a single patch.

I always get the error 403.

Isn't there a FTP-server out there with the patch files for GUI 7.10?

Ok did it.

Downloaded the patches from other sides insteed of SAP.

I also good an improvement of my problem.

Insteed of just chrasing, the GUI hang up.

You can'T stop the transaction, but it also won't show the idoc.

The windows of the SAPGUI just didn't respond anymore and has to be killed with the taskmanager.

I then tried the debugging notes (loging errors) but again there is nothing logged.

any other ideas what i could try?

Have you tried the good old deinstall/reinstall-approach? Also the missing logs sound suspicious; usually when increasing the trace level and activating tracing for most components. Of course if GUI crashes (or now hangs) then the file might not be closed properly. But if you do some activity before trashing it, you should see the trace file in the directory as described in the OSS note.

Anyhow, I doubt that the trace file will be of much help that's probably more for submitting an OSS note.

The SAPgui 7.10 should work on Windows 7 (supported by SAP), so this point is probably also doomed not to change anything (runs fine for me without any tinkering there): Have you tried the diverse options of the Windows 7 [troubleshoot compatibility assistant|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows]?

Maybe there's some bad interaction with another program/driver you have installed. Just for sake of trying everything (don't think it will do any good) I'd try also booting Windows in [safe mode with networking|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode].

Hello Harald,

the troubleshooting did it!

Sap Needs to be started in Win XP compatibility with Administrator rights.

Now BD 87 works fine again!

Thanks a lot for the help!
