saplogin.ini overwritten after system reboot to old ini file

Former Member

Hi,

We have changed the IP Address for our SAP Server(Old IP Address- 123.45.67.89). the saplogin.ini file was manually edited to include the new IP Address and overwrote the existing file under C:\WINDOWS.New SAP Server IP Address (SAP-PRD.xyz.com).

For majority of the Users, every time they reboot the System, it picks up tha old IP Address - 123.45.67.89. They are having to copy the new file everyday.

I would like to know how we can have the new IP address to come up instead of the old one after reboot.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Rajesh

Hi my friend

It somehow sounds like you have a domain logon script working that copies the old ini file back every time users re-log on their PC. Please check if there's such a distribution policy working in your domain, also take a look the ini file property -- read-only.

Hi Effan,

Yes, it was a rule in the Domain that overwrote the ini file. Thank you for the help, it fixed the issue.

Thanks,

Rajesh

As a workaround until you figure out what is causing it to be overwritten(probably a domain policy), you can either place the saplogon.ini file in the SApgui installation directory where it checks first before the Windows directory or setup the environment variable SAPLOGON_INI_FILE pointing to a location of your choosing.
