In the macro step of DP, while attaching periods, i see an option called OFFSET. Please throw some light on this.

Hi GuruCharan,

Well, Mani is absolutely correct.

The Offset option can be used when the start column from the key figure you want to copy data from is not the same as the one were data will be copied to.

For example, I want to copy data from key figure X from last month, into this month's bucket from key figure Y.

Of course that if you have a 0 offset, then you'll have same date for the base and receiving key figures.

Hope this could help.

Hello,

Further to what Mani explained, below is the example of offset.

Hi,

If you want your time period to start 1 month from the future in that case you can check the offset check box and enter 1. These are generally used when you lock down data for a month and want to start planning/forecasting for the next month right away and the lock down date as per the clients calendar is in the middle of the month.

To put it simply offset helps in shifting time periods from the current period.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Mani
