Applying support packs SAPKB70014 on ECC6/NW7 IDES system but SPAM runs forever in DDIC_ACTIVATION phase , I syslog i have following error

System has been upgraded with kernel patch level 236 , older patch version 146 prevented me applying support packs ( was DDIC_activation running forever without any activity ), System is running fine with the new kernel i.e. NW7 Kernel patch 236

Hi,

From the log it says "Background job not running properly", hence please check if job RDDIMPDP is scheduled correctly. If not then login to 000 client and execute program RDDNEWPP which will schedule the job RDDIMPDP periodically which is required for support packs and transports.

Also, check if the background work process avaialble are sufficient.

Kernel patch 146 and DB is Oracle

Check the last updated file in temp folder for patch , which should have some addtional hints for the error.

I have solved the problem by applying latest kernel patch, SPAM is working now
