Hello MAXDB gurus....
we have MAXDB 7.6 and after some research, it does not appear that MAXDB offer the data compression functionality like that of DB2 where an DBA could compress data on a table level to save storage. Is this true?
does anyone know if there are plans to add this functionality to future MAXDB versions? I did not see this mentioned in 7.7 nor 7.8
Thanks...
George
The feature pack for BI, as I understand it, looks to be more of a data stream compress between the BI app and the MAXDB data cache and NOT data compression where actual storage space is saved.
Also, we are not using BI with MAXDB, this is a cFolder app with SAP CS/MAXDB as the storage solution for collaboration files. Are there any commands to compress the data within MAXDB? and once it is compress, would MAXDB know to uncompress it when the associated app looks for information from the database?
Cheers
