Unable to import file xxx is not assigned to a role that can perform this..

Hi all,

We are having trouble migrating a project from a 12.0.8 system to a 12.0.8 system.

We are getting this message in the NetWeaver log on the Catalog files, queries and transactions. The Web stuff loads fine.

Unable to import file FILENAME , USERID is not assigned to a role that can perform this action

I exported the project and our Basis guy is trying to import it to our QA system.

The Basis guy doing the import has all MII services assigned to them. They do -not- have XMII Administrator or XMII Developer, but a role created by our security team called XMII Basis. Our security team has rearranged the services and how they are assigned to the MII roles.

BTW, he can't delete the project or edit a component in the workbench.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks

Catalog files like Query/Display Templates, and Transactions have object level security for ReaderRoles and WriterRoles.

If they don't match up with the import attempting user, you will see that same error message.

Thanks Jeremy,

What is object level security?

How do the Reader and Writer Roles get assigned to object level security for a particular object?

In the Workbench.

Templates: Security tab lower left, under Template Categories.

Transaction: Under Transaction tab, tasks - Transaction Security (or the Transaction menu bar option).

You should see a list of available roles and the short list of ones assigned for Reader and Writer privileges.
