PI to BI mass data load using either XML or CSV...

Hi Gurus,

Can you please give me your valued comments on the followings:

1. To do mass data load from PI to BI (where PI is getting those data from external legacy systems), whether we should use XML or CSV file from PI server to BI server?

2. To extract mass data from BI and then send it to PI (where PI will eventually send data back to legacy systems), whether we can produce XML file right from the BI Tools? Or, whether it's better to produce CSV file from BI and then send it to PI to load it (without converting it to XML)?

In our previous project we used CSV files both ways to do daily/weekly mass data load.

But this time we are just contemplating whether we should use XML or CSV to have better integration between PI and BI systems.

Haque,

BI can read and write the xml files. xml files will eliminate you the content conversion issues. So better go with xml itself.

So, you are saying we can load xml file by creating appropriate data source for XML, right?

But, can we create xml output file by Open Hub Destination or if not, what else we can use to create the xml files from BI to PI?

Did you think about sending the data via Idocs? It's more natural than the Files.

Hi Gurus again,

So, what is the recommend method of sending mass data from SAP PI to SAP BI and vice versa?

In our setup, SAP PI is getting about 1GB data from Legacy Systems daily basis and passing it to SAP BI for loading.

Also, after the data is loaded into SAP BI, once everything is consolidated, the data (another gigabyte daily) goes out from SAP BI to SAP PI heading out to some other external systems.

Please help with your valued opinion.
