Hi Friends,
We have maintained the Material Master in MDM. We are on MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch 4.
Our scenario is such that, the user uploads data via an Excel interface, which is directly loaded to MDM. These materials go through a matching process on 4 fields, namely, Material Type, Manufacturer, Manufacturer Part Number & Material Description. Currently there are about 110,000 materials in the repository. When the users upload 2000+ materials, the record matching takes around 1 hour to complete. Could you please provide any suggestions to improve the performance of the record matching process in MDM?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Anil Madhavan
Save your excell under CSV format.
Create a Port (format: delimited text) to load it with Import Server.
If you don't perform complex mapping (no partition, no additionnal creation in lookup tables) and your format is flat (no hierarchy, simple qualifier), you will really improve the performance.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Anil,
Matching strategies are often slow. Some things to look at are if the match does an "equals" or a "token equals" and if you are doing any transformations during the matching. Transformations increase the run time so if there are any you could eliminate it could help.
