Upgrade APO 3.0 to SAP SCM 7 (data integration)

Hi all,

We are doing technical upgrade from APO 3.0 to SCM 7.0 on client side and we have to solve following problem u2013 how correctly set up connection between SAP R/3 and SCM 7.0?

What we already done:

1. Copy APO 3 production to APO 3 test

2. Upgrade (full) from APO 3 test to SCM 7 test (prepare, upgrade,u2026)

3. Copy SAP R/3 production to SAP R/3 test

Steps 1 and 2 were did in the 5th and 6th week 2010

Step 3 in the 7th week 2010

Our goal is carry out following steps:

4. Set up connection between SAP R/3 test and SCM 7 test

5. Testing SCM 7 functionality according client requirements

6. Copy SCM 7 test from old server (S1) to new server (S2). S2 would have been for SCM production

7. Set up connection between SAP R/3 production and SCM 7 production

Our question is:

What procedure is have to be done in step 4 (test) and step 7 (production)?

The client has approximately 4500 finished products.

We are considering following options:

A)

- set up CIF connection between R/3 and SCM (based on best practices)

- run report SAPAPO/CCR (multiple times)

--How big changes this report can solve?

- run STD transport between R/3 and SCM with jobs (RIMODGEN, RIMODAC2, CURTO_CREATE, RIMODINI)

B)

- delete client 060 (planning version 000) v SAP SCM

- create new client 060

-- What does it means in this issue?

- set up CIF connection between R/3 and SCM (based on best practices)

- run STD transport between R/3 and SCM with jobs (RIMODGEN, RIMODAC2, CURTO_CREATE, RIMODINI)

C)

- delete data in SAP SCM 7

-- How we can do this?

- check livecache

--LC10 (note 640107)

- set up CIF connection between R/3 and SCM (based on best practices)

- run STD transport between R/3 and SCM with jobs (RIMODGEN, RIMODAC2, CURTO_CREATE, RIMODINI)

What we have to do with livecache after upgrade?

Based on a upgrade guide - during the upgrade APO 3.0 -> SCM 5.0 and SAP SCM 5.0 -> SCM 7.0 is livecache saved into DB, livecache is newly load after livecache upgrade from DB

Doesnu2019t more safer delete data from livecache and run initialization later with data transfer R/3 -> SCM 7.0? (note 640107).

Thanks for your opinions

A.R.

Thanks all,

we known, how to technically integrate R/3 <> SCM (by CIF).

Our problem is in data consistency. We must integrate SCM to R/3 which is cca 1 month data later than SCM.

The main problem is :

How to consolidate data correctly between fresh R/3 and older SCM ?

Thanks.

We are going through the same process.

We had to de-activate and then re-activate the integration models.

The data is stored in APO with GUI IDs that have the system and clients somehow imbedded in them.

So by de-activating and then re-activating, we sent all the data across again and it was consistent.

If you are using variants, make sure you run RCIFVARIANTCHANGE. It will allow you to change the rimodgen and rimodac2 variants to point at your test system and client.

Good luck.

Hi A.R.,

Your questioner very long, though its kind of general thing, you can follow the link provided by Senthil. But I would like to say that SCM 7.0 has much more capability as compare to 3.1 or even 5.0.

Like if you are using optimizer you need to define an optimizer profile, and you actually dont need a separate optimizer cost profile. But say your client want, that optimizer should somehow look at the quota defined in the T-lane. But we know that optimizer doesnt consider quota. But in SCM 7.0 you have the scope of maintaining quota violation cost.for optimizer.

This is not end here, in this case. you will find that you need a separate optimizer cost profile, other than the standard one. I would like to share an experience here.....

We are at the mid of our implementation project (SCM 7.0), our client want that optimizer should consider the quota also. So, we maintain quota violation cost, But the funny thing was: the result showed that optimizer didnt consider quota. We did lots of R&D, and last we decided to open an OSS. The very big documentation was created with screenshoot. And lastly before openning the OSS we had a look again... and found its the optimizer cost profile'. the weightage given there for quota violation cost was 'A Big Zero'. we were under the impression that everything was 'one' there.. as general. But its not the case here in SCM 7.0.

And ofcourse if you compare with 3.1.... long way to go,.. like PPM to PDS,.

Thanks,

Hi,

From your post, I guess your query basically is how to set up

connection R/3 and SCM systems in both Test and production

environments. Correct me if I am wrong.

The connection will be set via CIF ie CORE INTERFACE. You

need to create integration models for different master data

and transactional data elements and send those data in a

logical sequence.

Furthermore, the attached link will contains both the

functional and technical settings for you to proceed further.
