Is there an IDES successor?

i would like to build up a test system landscape. As backend I was thinking about an IDES system. Now my college told me that he heard some rumors that there will be a IDES successor. Can someone tell me if this is right and if yes where to find informations about it?

IDES systems are still available for most applications.

Hello,

I would like to build up a demo system landscape for Portal + ESS/MSS. The problem with it is that - in my opinion - IDES is a "dead" system and I am searching for a possibility to generate data for current time periods. Is something like this possible? What are the best practices for demo system landscapes?
