Can Oracle Grid Control (EOM) be setup in the same database used by Solution Manager without causing any major issues?
Has anyone done this?
I do not have an extra UNIX box for Grid Control, that is why I'm asking the question.
Hello Bill,

If you are talking about Grid Control and database you mean that you want to install the Grid Control Repository into the solution manager database. Technically it would work, if the oracle database of the solution manager has a supported version.
But if you purchase your oracle licenses by SAP .. you are not allowed to install the Grid Control repository into the solution manager database - check sapnote #581312 for more information.
You also need to install a seperate Oracle IAS in a different ORACLE_HOME, so why not installing all components in a different ORACLE_HOME if you want Grid Control .. no need to use the solution manager database for this.
