Recommendation for SRM-MDM catalog installation

SRM-MDM catalog 3.0

Hi,

SAP recommends to install MDM and SRM-MDM catalog search app all-in-one (MDM+JAVA). All SRM installation guides show the same picture of SRM-MDM catalog search being installed on the MDM server.

Technically, it makes sense to keep the SRM-MDM catalog search on MDM server (by installing WAS JAVA and deploying WDJ search app) to keep the search app close to MDM repository data.

Can anyone share their experience of installing SRM-MDM catalog search app on MDM server as well as separately on a WAS JAVA server like central Portal?

Decided against installing on a separate WAS JAVA server. The workload isn't enough to justify a standalone server so we decided to install SRM-MDM catalog search app on Central Portal.

Hi Shehryar,

I am also analyzing the implementation of SRM-MDM catalog. In my client there is no MDM server running. Do I need a specific server for the SRM-MDM catalog, or can be installed in the SRM Server or in the EP Server?
