Hi,

While installing SAP R/3 4.6C, encounrted the below error:

So in your /etc/hosts file you have got (at least) three lines with IP 10.127.153.97.

The Unix manual pages will probably tell you that there must be only one.

So put all the hostnames and aliases for 10.127.153.97 in one line.

Hi,

Make sure that your /etc/hosts file has the SINGLE entry in following format.

10.127.153.79    p23405prw273

Also check if your are using DNS server in your sap installation host.

If yes, either remove DNS setting from the network interface properties or make sure that there is no mapping on DNS server for hostname "p23405prw273"

Hi,

I think by seeing all there there is some problem in the host file.

Please make sure that you have the host entry for the specific IP with the fully qualified domain name.

that means you need to have a host entry as follows

10.xx.xx.xxx hostname.domainname.com

once the entry was made retry once again.

or else you can find more information about the error in the installation logs.

The issue has got resolved. The problem was indeed with the /etc/hosts file. The entries were not proper.
