Hi,

I am new to SRM and have some basic questions.

1. What are the restrictions of classic scenario ?

2. What are the restrictions of extended classic scenario?

3. I want to know how organizational structure is impacted in classic scenario and extended classic scenario?

Appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Hi,

In classic scenario the follow-on documents (Purchase Requisition, Purchase Order, Reservation) of the Shopping Cart are created in the backend system, therefore you cannot check the follow-on document details in the SRM system (just the basic data if you check the Shoppinng cart history).

In extended scenario you need to know, that the leading system is the SRM system. It means, that you cannot change and output the purchase orders in the backend system, the copy is just sent in the backend in order that you have a reference for the goods movement bookings. Furhtermore not the whole PO is copied into the backend sysem, just the most important ones (e.g. the longtexts are not copied ino the backend).

Hi,

Limitations of the Classic scenario:

1. Procurement of direct materials is not supported by the classic scenario.

2. The integration of Procurement card is also not possible.

3. While procurement of services, processing of limits cannot be achieved.

Limitations of the Extended Classic scenario:

1. After a SC creation, there is no purchase requisition document.

2. After a SC creation, there is no reservation created. However, with the help of BADI it can be achieved.

3. Till SRM5.0, extended classic scenario does not support Procurement card functionality.

4. In extended classic scenario, when a SC is created with more than 1 limit items, separate Pos will be created for each item.

Hi,

Classic scenario can not be used for Stock items.

the main difference / limitation of these two scenarios was where the follow on document ( Purchase order ) should create whether in SRM or in R/3.

In classic scenarion all material management takes place in back end system.while in ext.classic scenario, the complete procurement process takes place locally (SRM)

I dont think there is any organization structure impact between these two scenarios

Thanks
