Former Member

Hi

We have So many jobs running in our HR system and BW systems but with no proper Monitoring Configuration. We have Solution manager 7.0 with EHP latest version with CCMS configured. How to setup the email in Solution Manager using CCMS when Job failed?

Is there any standard way of doing it from HR system and BW system other than using solution manager? so that we can use it for Temporary solution.

Thank you for you support

Regards

Bhaskar

Hi Bhaskar,

just an additional remark: As of end of April 2010 we will provide a dedicated BW Process Chain monitor as part of Business Process Monitoring. More details are provided in my recent blog /people/volker.vongloeden/blog/2010/02/15/new-key-figure-catalog-for-business-process-monitoring-available

Best Regards

Hello Bhaskar,

I recommend to use SAP CPS by Redwood to schedule you BW and of course also your HR jobs.

Please check out the following document:

SAP CPS by Redwood - Increasing the Value of SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence

The monitoring capabilities fo SAP CPS are described in the documentation:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/0a/1a5678b72c418d96242330b96473c6/frameset.htm

You can use SAP CPS together with SAP Solution Manager free of charge (and even the OEM license for SAP CPS is free of charge). This way you can also combine SAP CPS and Business Process Monitoring in SAP Solution Manager.

Hi Bhaskar,

In your HR and BW system and run se16, view table "ALBTCMON", populate the table with:

Job Name= Your Background/Batch Job name

Customizing Group = WS_COLLECTOR_4_MONITORING

Alert Value =2

MTE Class = WS_COLLECTOR_4_MONITORING

Leave the remaining blank. Save and Exit.

Go back to Solution Manger and run RZ20

In "Extras", "Activate Maintenance Functions.

Create under My Favourites a new "Monitor Set" (Background/Batch Jobs in Production) or whatever you want to call it.

Select the new Monitor you just created and select F9 or Create and select the Client you wish so HR (production) or the BW (Production) Client. Expand the selection and select the monitoring set "Background\Background Job Monitoring"

Save and Activate.

After the next time your jobs run CCMS will be populated with that job and statistics on the job. From there in the properties of the job you can set thresholds on alerts or send errors to your Service Desk if you have configured it.

I hope this is a help. Its a lot easier than Redwood initially.

Saire

Hello,

you can use Business Process Monitoring or Job Management in Solution Manager. There is some good documentation in SDN under BPM. You can configure for specific jobs by name, ABAP program, etc and decide when you want to get the alert: cancelled, delayed, running too long, etc.

Hi Bhaskar,

best is probably you start in SDN with [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring]. Under FAQ it is pointing you to other links. Another one is [https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000707668].

I hope this helps.

Ingrid
