I am beginner to MDM, I would like to know abaper's role while implementing MDM.

MDM 3.0 consists of ABAP coding and as well Java Coding, so there can be a need for additional reports, BADI implementations etc. Pretty similiar to every other SAP project.

online about mdm is right here within the sdn - surf the mdm section and you shall find tons of presentations, elearning stuff ...
