Error while creating contact person

Hi While creating contact person in customer master data

I am getting the message Partner XXXXXX is not assigned to a partner function?

What might be the possible reason,

There are 2 ways to achieve this,

if the contact person is customer specific , then create contact person from Customer Master data.

or if the contact person is sales area specific,

Then assign contact person partner fucntion CP in Customer partner determination procedure first, Create contact person either in CMR or Tx:VAP1 ( as said above) & assign the contact person number in CMR- sales area data - partner functions.

Hi,

First create contact person for sold to part in VAP1

There is no need to assign in master.
