Difference between ATP & GATP Basic methods

Former Member

Hi Experts

What is the difference in ATP & GATP Basic methods.

In our Process in R/3 we are using Product Allocation Planning in MC94 Transaction.

Our Scenario:

If Product allocation for the Customer x with the Product A is maintained as 100 quantity for the Current week which is week06.

1)Stock for the Product is 50

When we create 100 Qty as sales order for Cust x with Prod A then system is checking first product Availability (stock) and confirming only 50 Qty.

2) Stock for the Product is 100.When we create 100 Qty as sales order for Cust x with Prod A then system is checking first product Availability (stock) (so stock is 100) now system is performing check against Product allocation (which is 100) order is confirmed for 100.

By above scenario system is checking stock in the first step and Allocations in the second step.

Combination of basic methods can be achieved in ATP in R/3 only.

In GATP Help i read that combination of basic methods can be done in GATP unlike R/3.

Experts please clarrify my doubt only with respect to only Basic methods .

regards

Preetam

Hi Preetam,

You can use the GATP in SCM and get the avilabilty check in different location like DC , Mfg plant ect. In addition to that GATP has advance method - multi level ATP, CTP and rule based ATP form which you can define rule and check as per the check rule.

CTP functionality is used for automatic production trigger and confirmation of the date as per resource detail scheduling.

Hi Preetam,

As I already explained, in GATP, you can combine the basic

methods (availability check and allocation) and define the

sequence for executing the checks as you required.

If you have simulation version maintained in system, you can

carry out a simulation check before actually executing it in

live system whereas the R/3 system will not have this

functionality.

You can carry out this activity in GATP of APO using

transaction /SAPAPO/AC04

Hope it is clear now. Please confirm.

Hi Preetam,

When we carry out comibined check methods using ATP and GATP,

system first checks out how much is actually available for

confirmation.

Based on confirmation or confirmed quantity, product allocation is

made. In GATP, you can also define the execution sequence of the

check methods as required in customizing which is unlikely in ATP.

The second available option is that in GATP we can carry out this

method in Simulation as well.

Hi Senthil

Thanks for your reply....

In GATP, you can also define the execution sequence of the

check methods as required in customizing which is unlikely in ATP. But in R/3 also its checking stock avalable if stock is more than sales order then its checking Product allocation Qty and Confiring the Sales Order.

Please Advice .....
