Hi,

if we select the seasonal model in forecast profile then how it works?

Is there any extra settings required ? How we will get the DP for different seasons for example spring, autumn, summer, winter for cold drinks ?

Please explain me.

Thanks in advance

Hi Prabhat,

When you execute transaction /SAPAPO/SDP_SEASON,

you could see 3 master data tabs, season, season year

and seasonal pattern.

Point No.2 specifically points out to maintain the

seasonal pattern tab with season year and year

dependent structure which contains the fields like

period year start and year end. Please check whether

are you able to find these fields. I am using SCM

5.1 system

I am not able to understand one point.

If we already select the seasonal model in forecast profile then wht is the need for settings of seasonal planning.

Based on the historical data we should get the forecast value.

When we select the seasonal model then automatically the system will calculate according to the logic then why we have separate options for seasonal planning.

we have the option to check the check box for seasonal planning in Planning Area.

Why?

Hi Prabhat,

To get your seasonal planning works, the following settings has to be

made

1) Activate seasonal planning in the planning area and specify a default

seasonal pattern. When you initialize the planning area, the system automatically

uses this seasonal pattern for all characteristic values combinations to which

you have not yet assigned a seasonal pattern (Planning area settings)

2) In the data view on the seasonal pattern tab page, enter the season

year that you work with most often or set the aggregated season year

indicator. In addition, specify on the Period Structure Settings tab page how many

season years you want the system to consider when you dynamically switch

planning buckets profiles in interactive planning. For example, this applies if you

have specified a season year in the data view and display an aggregated season

year in interactive planning.

3) Maintain the master data for seasonal planning under transaction

/SAPAPO/SDP_SEASON

Hi Senthil,

Thanks for your reply.

I understood ur 1st and 3rd point. I understood that we have to activate the Seasonal Planning in PA and specify the seasonal pattern.

Also in transaction SDP_SEASON we maintain the season year and seasonal pattern ( master data ),periodicity etc.

But your second point that -- data view in seasonal pattern tab page and Period structure settings tab page ...

my confusion is -- where do we find this seasonal pattern tab page and period structure settings tab page ?

Please let me know this thing.

Many Thanks,

Prabhat.

Hi Prabhat,

The seasonal model for the APO checks for the seasonality in the past history values and calculates the seasonality index. Based on this it first calculates the base values without the seasonality , forecast on the base values and then applies the seasonality index for getting the seasonal forecast values.

It does not work on months as spring, winter etc. For special occasions , you can manage through promotional planning.

Let me know if it helps.

Hi Gaurav,

Thanks for your reply.

I want to know that the demand for cold drinks is high in Summer season like in the month of April,May etc so how we get the Forecast for these months.

Is there any role of Time Bucket Profile or Seasonal Planning Profile.

Thanks,
