Average message size

Hi All,

Kindly tell wht can be the Average message size and maximum number of messages per hour that can flow through the XI by taking consderation that of messages only Asyncronous case and considering both Async nd Syncronous scenarios.

and if we assume XML message is 500KB and number of messages 7000 per hour, is ok or not.

Kindly help me out in this regard.

Hi ,

Its depends on your pi environments. In sap xi 3.0 we can use up to the message volumes are 576,739 messages per day we use

In sap 7.0 with in 2-3 we can send up to 44,000 messages sends it and the message size average :10kb-12 kb

in peak we can use up to the message size is 60 kb.

Hi Shiva,

If you see Process Integration success stories(Clinet exp) processing 7000 messages per hour is not going to be a big problem.

PI will handle it,the size of message is 500 kb then even its not going to be a problem,PI wl handle 500KB messages.

But if 7000 messages has each 500kb size,then the prformace issues comes into point.

Based on Number of messages and size of messages you can plan licence of PI product,you can for High configuration,take hel from SAP ,they will guide you properly.

is 500KB the Total message size or is it just the payload size?....if payload size is 500KB then note that the actual message in XI may be 500 x X.....so your XI/ PI server should be capable to not only handle 500KB messages but also to process the total message size....or it may overload.

We do not have a average message size....and the max limit is defined by your hardware.

The message size and frequency would depend on your PI hardware. So will suggest you to read the sizing and tuning guides from marketplace

The size and frequency which you mentioned looks ok, but then it may vary depending on the hardware cofiguration
