FM Derivation > FMDERIVE,FMRULES,RFMXPR47,RFMXPR49

Hi,

Please confirm what should be the sequence for the derivation steps in DEV environment:

FMRULES (To select pre-defind rules)

FMDERIVE (To select some function module)

RFMXPR47 (conversion program)

RFMXPR49 (Conversion program)

or

RFMXPR47

RFMXPR49

FMRULES

FMDERIVE

How derivation rules (all) can be transported. I am using SCC1 and getting error. As DEV client does not have data , is it possible to run conversion program after tranporting FMDERIVE rules to QA .Is there any other tool for tranport.

Please advise.

Saeed

Hi,

Usually, you do not transport the rules (the values themselves), but only the strategy. The values of the rules are updated directly in the target client. However, you can go to FMDERIVE, enter into the strategy, choose Menu - Extras - Transport and it will be transported.

Eli

Hello Saeed,

These programs are relevant only for conversion of old tables to new ones (during the upgrade from 4.6 release). Do you have this situation? Anyway, you run these programs in DEV before transporting the new strategy to the advanced client.

Hi Eli,

Yes, We're doing upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6.0

Do we need to run these programs in DEV before defining derivation rules or after ?

Saeed.

Thanks Eli,

We have two clients on the same server ( config and testing). When I trasnported derivation strategy using transaction SCC1

It was moved but values in FMDERIVER table were not populated. Then I deleted Predefined Rules and re-did it using transaction FMRULES. After this FMDERIVER table was automatically populated.

How we can avoid this issue ?

Hi Saeed,

Normally, when you create a transport for FMDERIVE the system asks you whether to include the values in the transport or not. If you choose not to include the values, then they are not transported, but only the rules themselves are.
