Dear all,

Anyone knows where I can find epson (i.e.LQ 2180) driver for solaris OS ? I've tried epson official site, only windows available. I want to setup dot matrix as network printers, so I need to install the driver on our application server.

using lpadmin to add printer on solaris - no specific driver installed - just choose the correct device type EPESCP2

Hi,

You can even use compatible printer driver provided by SAP, if it is not appeared in "Device Type"

Just configure your Output device with below settings

Device Type = EPESPC, EPESPC2, EPESPC9, EPLQ550 or SWIN (Try any one of these..)

Device Class = Standard Printer

Host Spool Access Method = F (Frontend Printer)

Host printer = __DEFAULT

It should work...

Hi Rajesh,

(F) Frontend ? My understanding it is used for printer which being install/attached to user PC, but not for network printing. ..thanks.

Hi,

Access Method is depend upon your network environment...

Access Method (F) also work, provided network printer is installed on users desktop.

Main thing is use proper "Device Type"...

You can change Access Method as per your requirement...

Thanks Rajesh,

Actually the printer will be attached directly to switch / hub, so it will get an IP address, so my understanding is to install the driver to our application server. The device type / driver for SAP is already there, I am now searching for OS driver (Solaris)

Hi,

Your printer requires "Omni" drivers from Openprinting to work with Solaris OS...

You can download the source drivers from the below link...

If your client system can print other documents to the same printer, you dont need to install drivers on your application server.

Hope, It will solve your problem.

Regards.
