Dataguard for Disaster recovery SAP

Hi,

We run SAP on oracle 10g. Currently we use custome scripts for standby servers.

We plan to use dataguard in future for the standby servers.

The concern we have is, If we add new datafiles to the database using brtools, the datafile is added in a newdirectory.

Will Oracle dataguard, capture the new directory creation on the standby side. Or do we need to handle it with custom scripts and datagurad will create the datafile on the standby.

Please let us know how this works .

Thanks,

Tanuj

Hello Tanuj,

if you set STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT to "AUTO" in your data guard broker configuration (or manually in the spfiles), the files are created automatically on standby site. On Linux (SLES 10) and Unix (AIX 5L) the directories are created automatically too.

I have seen this behavior with 10.2.0.4 on these two operating systems - no idea how it is handled with other patchsets, etc.

Stefan

Dear Tanuj,

It works fine with DROP TABLESPACE INCLUDING CONTENTS AND DATAFILES too.

Refer Oracle® Data Guard Concepts and Administration for more reference.
