Role menu - Folder node translation

Hello

As this project is going in Global implemetation and users login with diffferent language

The requriement is to change Foler name in Role menu tab in PFCG for each role name to Polish, German and French , so that when use login in French /German/Polish can see the folder name in respective language otherwise they will see the Folder name in english as role are created in English.

Transcation inside the folder are good, as SAP by default change transcation text as per Standard.

The question is is there any SAP note whcih can be implemented to n change all folder name in the role menu for all roles rather than doing manullay one by one .

Please help and let me know your experience with this

The name is "free text" so the translation is too, as well as the maintenance...

An alternative might be to create area menus as templates - but I am not sure what happens to the translation when you import it into the role menu.

Same goes for having a master template role menu. This can make a lot of sense as well if you are using the menu compression option at logon to avoid redundancy of entries.

Learning some basic English to read a menu structure should also be within the range of most folks so perhaps you can try to convince them of that as a last resort before translating everything for each menu of each role into each language.

Learing some basic English is within the range of most folks but most folks have irrational averse against new systems (It does not matter if it is SAP system or not). So if you tell them that they need to learn some basic English then they would be much more pissed off and afraid. That's my experience.

What helps is to do an analysis of how users who have drifted over into the favourites, how many there are and how they have structured that.

Switching to a (redundancy compressed) role menu which looks and feels much the same as that which they have really been using on a day to day basis can help to increase the acceptability of the transportable and centrally maintained menu.

The main infos are in table SMEN_BUFFC. You can get the foreign texts from there as well.

However this approach is not really scalable to 1000's of users with very different menus each an using different transactions for the same thing probably as well. That would be a bigger problem and the end user's fears should be less of a consideration.
