Can we have same SID for ECC, TREX and NW CE

Hello all,

I ahave a small question, can we have same System ID for ECC, TREX and NW CE 7.1.

we are preparing naming convention for the servers and this is not clear if we can use Same system ID for TREX and ECC on same system while NW CE 7.1 on different machine but same System ID.

any would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, you can use it. But a lot of disadvantages of using same SID for different systems. You can check below SAP notes of implications having different system with same SID:

Note 1147489 - Create two Systems with the same SID in SMSY...

As a result you can face a number of problems.

Hello Sunny,

this was the solution to problem and moreover i am never suppose to have two system ID for same system number i.e. not two ECC system but ECC, TREX and NW CE system, which should be ok apart from SLD setup right ???

Moreover we are not a production company but a software development company.

So is there anything else i should take care apart fromt the same if i want to go for same name iin one domain.

Hi,

If your both system is same installation number then you will face problem when you generate the sap licence on marketplace.
