Hello All,
SENARIO:
I have a WBS u201CConcretingu201D and under this there are multiple activities u201CLocation 1, Location 2u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026 Location nu201D and in each location I have different activity elements (ex: Labor, Self Loader, Water Tanker etc.,), which helps to complete the concreting process various locations.
CONCRETING (WBS)
LOCATION 1 (ACTIVITY)
LABOUR (ACTIVITY ELEMENT)
SELF LOADER (ACTIVITY ELEMENT)
WATER TANKER (ACTIVITY ELEMENT)
Now my query is how I can track the progress of the CONCRETING WBS, as the concerting work is getting completed at individual locations.
I was referring to the customizing on Project Progress; I have maintained the Project Version for my controlling area. Now I am stuck up at defining the SKF for POC.
Thanks and Regards,
Sudarshan.
Sudarshan,
To customize project progress you must follow these steps:
Step 1: Create a progress version
Step 2: Maintain settings of a progress version per CO area
Step 3: Define measurement methods as default value for project object types
Step 4: Define measurement methods as default value for order types
Step 5: Create 3 statistical key figures (KK01)
The unit of measure MUST be u2018%u2019 and the key figure category MUST be u2018Tot. valuesu2019.
Step 6: Assign statistical key figures to POC usages
Step 7: Create 3 value categories for POC values (OPI1)
The Unit of measurement u201C%u201D and type u201CSKFw.TtlVS.u201D is a must!
Step 8: Assign each statistical key figure to a value category (OPI5)
Step 9: Define the cost element(s) for earned values
Step 10: Create one or more value categories (OPI1)
Step 11: Assign the cost elements to value categories (OPI2)
In note 503246 you will find a useful report to check your customizing: CHECKREPORT_PROGRESSANALYSIS
Hope this helps!
Best regards
Martina

Hello Martina,
Thank you very much for your reply.
I am following the steps of customizing that you have sent me: (My Comments in BOLD)
Step 1: Create a progress version
Created a Project Version ZV01 by coping 100.
Step 2: Maintain settings of a progress version per CO area (Done)
Step 3: Define measurement methods as default value for project object types
Created new measurement method ZV0000006 by coping the std method 000000006.
And also assigned it to the Project Object Type: Activity Internal Processing
(I was trying to assign to Project Object Type: WBS, but i got a error message: Measurement method ZV00000006 is not allowed for WBS elements, Message no. 7A055 )
Step 4: Define measurement methods as default value for order types (Not configured)
Step 5: Create 3 statistical key figures (KK01)
The unit of measure MUST be u2018%u2019 and the key figure category MUST be u2018Tot. valuesu2019.
Created 3 SKF's by name ZV01, ZV02 and ZV03 with above properties.
Step 6: Assign statistical key figures to POC usages
Here i am getting stuck, as i am unable to assign the above creted SKF's to the combination of combination of CO Area, Usage
1000 1 ZV01 (Non Aggreated POC)
1000 2 ZV02 (Aggreated POC)
1000 3 ZV03 (Results Analysis POC)
i want to assign all the SKF to CO Area 1000 and Usage 1 (Non Aggreated POC)
Also can you please tell me what is the difference between these usages(1, 2 & 3).
Step 7: Create 3 value categories for POC values (OPI1)
The Unit of measurement u201C%u201D and type u201CSKFw.TtlVS.u201D is a must!
Created 3 Value Categories ZV01, ZV02 and ZV03.
Step 8: Assign each statistical key figure to a value category (OPI5)
Assigned the SKF to Value category.
Step 9: Define the cost element(s) for earned values
Where do we do this customization.
Step 10: Create one or more value categories (OPI1)
I have already creted them in Step 7.
Step 11: Assign the cost elements to value categories (OPI2)
Also unable to do this setting as the system throws me the following message:
"Value category 1000 ZV01 is for statistical key figures only
Message no. HF219"
Request you to guide me in this regard.
Thanks,
Sudarshan

Hi again!
My Comments in BOLD
Step 3: Define measurement methods as default value for project object types
Created new measurement method ZV0000006 by coping the std method 000000006.
And also assigned it to the Project Object Type: Activity Internal Processing
(I was trying to assign to Project Object Type: WBS, but i got a error message: Measurement method ZV00000006 is not allowed for WBS elements, Message no. 7A055 )
I guess this is correct as method work is intended for activitiesu2026
Step 6: Assign statistical key figures to POC usages
Here i am getting stuck, as i am unable to assign the above creted SKF's to the combination of combination of CO Area, Usage
1000 1 ZV01 (Non Aggreated POC)
1000 2 ZV02 (Aggreated POC)
1000 3 ZV03 (Results Analysis POC)
i want to assign all the SKF to CO Area 1000 and Usage 1 (Non Aggreated POC)
Also can you please tell me what is the difference between these usages(1, 2 & 3).
You must assign each SKF to a different usage. Each one will be used to calculate different figures.
Step 9: Define the cost element(s) for earned values
Where do we do this customization.
Project System -> Progress -> Progress Analysis-> Maintain Assignment of Cost Element Group
Step 10: Create one or more value categories (OPI1)
I have already creted them in Step 7. Incorrect! This are additional VCs! Create value categories for the cost elements you indicated in step 9 with unit of measure u201C u201D and type u201CCostsu201D.
Step 11: Assign the cost elements to value categories (OPI2)
Also unable to do this setting as the system throws me the following message:
"Value category 1000 ZV01 is for statistical key figures only
Message no. HF219" This error is due to the incorrect step 10
Thanks,
Martina
Hello Martina,
Your reply was very much helpful for me to cutomize the project progress.
Thank you very much.
This time i am done with all my customization and also verified with the report "CHECKREPORT_PROGRESSANALYSIS", fortunately there were no errors.
Now after doing all the customizing, i have assigned the Progress Version "Z01" to my activity "Location 1" and saved the project in CJ20n.
And now i have confirmed the activity element "Labour" under the activity "Location 1" partially (ie 10 Hrs out of 40 Hrs)
After that i have executed CNE1 and run the report "S_ALR_87015125 - Details ", but unable to see the progrss figures of the activity element.
Is there any thing in between which i am missing , so that i am unable to track the project progress in the report "S_ALR_87015125 - Details"
Sudarshan,
there are a few things you can check...
-if you have run CNE1 for WBS element or PD, make sure you set the flag "with orders"
-Make sure you remove the flag "Test run" in CNE5
-the progress version must be maintained in the activity element
-If you are not posting final confirmations, when you use work method, the degree of processing from the confirmation is transfered to the percentage of completion.
Is CNE5 also returning an empty layout?
Thanks
Martina
Hello Martina,
All the checks that you have mentioned in your earlier post have been taken care by me while executing CNE1.
Now when i execute CNE5, there are values displaying in the layout (Like Actual work, Remaining Work, Work, Actual Cost, ....).
But there are no values showing up for POC (Aggregated, Non Aggregated and POC weight).
Request you to give some inputs if i have missed any calculation methods for POC's.
Thanks
Sudarshan.
I´m running out of ideas!
Check these:
-In the result output after running CNE1 confirm that the method used was really ZV00000006.
-Did you do any modifs to ZV00000006 or was it an exact copy of the standard one?
-In CNE5 only the POC and earned values of the current period are displayed. Check your confirmation dates.
-In CNE5 execute Settings > Value display > plan versions and confirm your progress version is informed
Can anybody else contribute?
Thanks
Martina
you need to maintain SKF for aggregated and non aggregated POC. also you need to maintain cost element and value categories for progress analysis
