Hi
I'm told that BEx query based universes can use the BW Accelerator. But I'm not getting great performance from my reports though, so do the universes have to be based on v3.5 or v7 BEx queries for BWA to work, or is there some configuration to do on the BEx side to get it to work?
Thanks
Charles
Hi,
First, to take advantage of BWA you need to work on SAP BW 7.
Secondly, there is nothing to do on the BEx query side to take advantage of BWA.
Last, there were a lot of performance improvements added both in SAP BW and BOE. Can you check which versions do you have.
Concerning SAP BW you need at least SAP BW 7.0 EhP1 and for BOE you need at least BOE XI 3.1 fix pack 2.1.
There are other performance improvements on the track.
Regards,
Didier

Hi Didier
So to confirm:
1. A universe on a BW 3.5 query will not take advantage of the BWA, but a universe based on a BW 7.0 query will.
2. We have various versions of SAP for the different landscapes which is making this more difficult, our BOE in XI 3.1 (not sure of the fix pack level).
3. When defining the Unvierse over a BEx query what are the best practice for the Connection Manager page 4 of 4 settings:
a. Connection Pool Mode
b. Pool Timeout
c. Array Fetch Size
d. Array Bind Size
e. Login Timeout
Thanks
Charles
