liveCache upgrade

Hello,

when upgrading SCM 4.1 to 7.01 (SPS 5) we also have to upgrade the livecache (current version 7.5)

CD delivers 7.7.04_29 but as we go to SCM SP5 I'ld like to use 7.7.06_16 which is delivered as patch

LCUPDATE from CD and afterwards SDBUPD from patch works correctly

Now this stops the x_server so other LCs are not available, so maybe more efficient would be to go to the 7.7.06 directly during the upgrade (skipping the LCUPDATE from upgrade CD)

is that possible or are patches only ok for starting release 7.7 (as stated in 998966) ?

thanks for advice,

Paul

Hello Paul,

1) Itu2019s recommended to run the liveCache upgrade using the upgrade CD as

pro liveCache upgrate guide using LCUPDATE first.

Then apply the SAP Note 1378450 which referred to SAP note 998966.

< LCA/liveCache: 70.10 PL 001/ 7.7.06.16 - SAP Note 1378450 >

2) If you would like to minimize the downtimes on your systems when you asked in REQ_LCUPG phase

to upgrade the liveCache => please create the SAP ticket.

3) Please also pay attention to the SAP notes:

Hi Paul

I have not performed an SCM upgrade but with other upgrades it is easier enough to upgrade the database to a later release. The tricky bit with SCM is that you have to make sure you get the required LCA incorporated into your SCM upgrade. For 7.7.06.16 you require LCA 70.10 PL 001.

In most upgrades, there is a phase to incorporated additional or later patch levels. Are you able to replace the LCA 70.06 PL 001 (ie LC ABAP component - LCAPPS) for liveCache 7.7.04.29 as part of the upgrade?

You will also have to replace the delivered kernel with the kernel delivered with the LCA/LVC Build you downloaded. This is described in note 211077.

If you can these steps, then I don't see an issue with doing this.

Doug

Hello Doug,

You wrote:

The question is incorrect.

1) Please review the SAP note:

1278897 Patch strategy LC/LCA as of SCM 7.0

u201CAs of SCM 7.0, the ABAP component LCAPPS (LCAPPS 2005_700 in

SCM 5.0 and LCAPPS 2006_700 in SCM 5.1) that was delivered for SCM 5.0 and SCM 5.1 is no longer delivered. u2026.u201D

2) SAP LIVECACHE TECHNOLOGYLINK:

3) LCA Build and Patch Level: 70.06 PL 001 is released with liveCache 7.7.04.29 in one package, see

more details in SAP Note 1269525
